Google's rules, in short

Google publishes guidelines for what a profile may say, and a profile that breaks them can be suspended. The ones we see broken most are city names or services added to the business name, a P.O. box or virtual office as the address, and a second profile for the same business.

Reviews have rules too. Google removes reviews that were paid for or rewarded with a discount, and it does not allow asking only your happy customers. So we ask every customer the same way and let the reviews be what they are.

  • Your real business name, with nothing added.
  • Address hidden if you go to your customers.
  • One profile per business.
  • The fewest, most specific categories.
  • No rewards in exchange for reviews.

When something is wrong

Suspended profile

Signs: The profile vanished from Maps or shows as suspended in your account.

What we do: Fix what broke the guidelines, gather documents that match the profile, and file Google's appeal. Google takes one appeal per decision, so it has to be right.

Someone else owns it

Signs: An old web company, a former employee, or a stranger controls your listing.

What we do: File Google's ownership request. The current owner gets 3 days to answer, and service-area businesses go through Google support instead.

Duplicate profiles

Signs: Two listings for your business, often an old address or an old phone number.

What we do: Keep the one with your reviews and work with Google to remove the other. We never make a new profile to get around a problem.

Wrong information showing

Signs: Old hours, a disconnected number, or edits you did not make.

What we do: Correct it in your account, match it on your website, and check that it stuck.

How it works

  1. Add us as a manager

You stay the owner and can remove us at any time.

  2. A written review

Your profile checked against your website and Google's guidelines.

  3. Fix and fill in

Categories, services, hours, photos, and the description.

  4. Keep it current

Posts, review replies, and holiday hours, or a one-time cleanup.

Questions

Will this get me to the top of Google Maps?

We can't promise that. Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity, and that there is no way to pay for a better local ranking. We make the profile complete, accurate, and active, which is the part you control.

Do I have to give you my Google password?

No. You add us as a manager from your profile. You stay the owner and can remove us whenever you want.

Can you delete a bad review?

Not because it is bad. If a review breaks Google's policy, like spam or a fake, we report it. Otherwise we write a calm, honest reply that the next customer will read.

I work out of my house. Does my address have to show?

No. Google says service-area businesses should hide their address, so we list the areas you serve instead.

Do you need to touch my website too?

Not required. Your name, address, phone, and services should match on both, though, and if the site needs work that is our SEO and web design side.

Is this monthly?

It can be. Some businesses only need a one-time cleanup. Others want posts, review requests, and replies handled every month.
