IONOS alternative

The intro rate ended. So did the reason you signed up.

IONOS sells a first-term price and a different price after it, across a catalog of separate products. We sell one plan with one number that does not change, and a phone that rings in East Canton, Ohio.

One plan, one price, one person.

Most IONOS calls we get start the same way: somebody opened the renewal invoice and could not work out which of the six line items was the website.

One Price, No First-Term Footnote

IONOS quotes a rate for an initial contract term and a different rate after it, and says so in the footnotes on its own pricing pages. We have three prices, $15, $25, and $50 a month, and they do not change later.

No Contract to Get Out Of

Month to month. If you want to leave, you tell us and we help you take your files with you. Nothing auto-renews for another term while you are not looking.

cPanel, Not a Products Dashboard

One panel, one account, everything about your site in it. Not a shopping catalog where hosting, domain, email, SSL, and site builder are separate line items you have to reconcile every month.

One Person, Not a Contact Center

Call (330) 305-2750 and you get Noah in East Canton. Same person every time, who already knows what your site does.

Email Included and Configured

Mailboxes on your own domain, with SPF and DKIM set so quotes and invoices reach the inbox. Not a separate per-mailbox subscription.

Free Migration

Site, database, SSL, redirects, DNS, and mail. Included in setup rather than sold as a service.

The other side

When IONOS is the better choice

IONOS is a serious infrastructure company, not a fly-by-night. Here is where it is the better fit.

  • You need European data residency

IONOS is a large European infrastructure company with data centers in the EU and the US. If you have customers or obligations in Europe, that is a real reason to stay and we cannot match it.

  • You use the assigned consultant and it works

IONOS assigns a personal consultant to accounts. If yours calls you back and solves things, you already have what we are selling, and switching would be churn for its own sake.

  • You only need a domain and a mailbox

If there is no real website, just a domain and an email address, a big provider at a low rate is fine. Do not pay $15 a month for hosting that nothing is running on.

  • You need servers, cloud, and hosting from one vendor

IONOS sells VPS, cloud, and dedicated infrastructure alongside shared hosting. If you are consolidating vendors at that scale, a one-person Ohio shop is not the right consolidation target.

If your consultant answers and your invoice makes sense, stay. If neither is true, the fix is a smaller vendor, not a bigger one.

The move

What switching actually involves

The hard part of leaving IONOS is rarely the website. It is working out which products in the account are still billing, what stops when the site moves, and what has to keep running.

We do the untangling with you on the phone before anything is cancelled. Nothing gets turned off until the replacement is tested.

  1. We untangle what you are actually paying for

IONOS accounts usually hold several products at once: hosting, one or more domains, mailboxes, an SSL certificate, sometimes a site builder. Before anything moves we list them and mark which ones stop when the site moves and which do not.

  2. We check the contract dates

If a term is mid-cycle, we plan the switch around it rather than paying twice. Nothing stops you from running here while an old term finishes at IONOS.

  3. We copy the site and test it

For WordPress this is files and database. For a site built in the IONOS builder, the site cannot be exported as a working site and has to be rebuilt, and we will tell you that up front with a scope before you commit.

  4. Mail before web

IONOS mailboxes get recreated here and messages copied with IMAP, then send and receive get tested. Only then do we touch the records that move the website.

  5. DNS cutover and watch

TTL lowered, records changed, both ends monitored through propagation. Most business sites are fully switched inside a business day.

Plans

Three plans. The price does not change at renewal.

Foundation

$15/month

10GB NVMe SSD and 3 domains. This covers most five- to fifteen-page business sites.

Business

$25/month

50GB NVMe SSD and unlimited domains. For a bigger site, more email accounts, or a few sites on one account.

Professional

$50/month

100GB and dedicated resources. For heavier traffic, a small store, or a site that has outgrown shared limits.

Every plan includes free SSL, cPanel, nightly backups, malware scanning, and free migration from your current host. Billing is month to month, and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Questions

I am in the middle of a contract term. Should I wait?

Usually yes for billing, no for planning. We will do the site copy and testing whenever you want and hold the DNS change until the term is up, so you are not paying two hosts at once.

My site was built with the IONOS website builder. Can it move?

Not as-is. Builder sites are tied to the platform, so what moves is the content, images, text, and structure, and the site gets rebuilt in WordPress. We scope that as web design work and quote it before starting, rather than calling it a migration.

Will my site go down?

Most migrations can be handled with little to no downtime when DNS is planned correctly. Your IONOS site stays live until the new copy is approved. We do not promise a guaranteed zero, because DNS propagation is not fully under our control.

Do I have to move my domain registration?

No. You can leave the domain registered at IONOS and just point DNS here. If you do transfer it, ICANN rules prevent another transfer for 60 days, so we usually keep those two decisions separate.

What does it cost?

Foundation is $15 a month, Business is $25, Professional is $50, billed monthly. Free SSL, cPanel, nightly backups, malware scanning, and migration are in all three, and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.
