How to Restore a Backup in Softaculous
Restore your website from a Softaculous backup after an update goes wrong or files get corrupted.
If your site breaks after an update or a plugin causes issues, restoring from a Softaculous backup gets you back online quickly.
Step 1: Open Softaculous
Log in to cPanel → Softaculous Apps Installer.
Step 2: Find Your Installation
Click All Installations to see your installed apps.
Step 3: Open the Restore Panel
Click the Restore icon (curved arrow) next to the installation you want to restore.
Step 4: Select a Backup
You'll see a list of available backups with dates. Select the one you want to restore from and click Restore.
Softaculous will:
- Overwrite the current files with the backup files
- Import the backup database, replacing the current one
After Restoring
- Clear your browser cache and any caching plugins
- Visit your site to confirm it's working
- Check that content added after the backup date is gone (backups aren't incremental)
Tips
- Restoration completely replaces the current site — any changes since the backup are lost
- If you don't see a backup listed, check /home/username/softaculous_backups/ via File Manager for loose backup files
- Contact 330 Hosting support for help restoring from a server-level nightly backup
