How to Set Up Cyberduck FTP Client
Connect to your hosting account from Mac or Windows using the free Cyberduck client.
Cyberduck is a popular, free file transfer client for Mac and Windows that supports SFTP, FTP, and cloud storage services.
Step 1: Download Cyberduck
Download Cyberduck from cyberduck.io (free) or from the Mac App Store / Microsoft Store.
Step 2: Open a New Connection
Launch Cyberduck → click Open Connection (the globe icon).
Fill in:
- Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)
- Server: yourdomain.com
- Port: 22
- Username: your cPanel username
- Password: your cPanel password
Click Connect.
Step 3: Browse and Transfer Files
Cyberduck opens a file browser showing your server files. Navigate to /public_html for your website files. Drag files from your Mac/PC to upload.
Bookmarking the Connection
After connecting, drag the bookmark icon to the bookmarks list so you can reconnect quickly.
Tips
- Cyberduck shows your entire home directory on first connect — navigate to /public_html for website files
- Use Edit → Preferences → Browser to set the default download folder
- Right-click a file → Edit with to open and edit it in your preferred text editor
- Cyberduck also connects to S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, and more
