Move from Squarespace without losing the parts that make your site work.

Squarespace can create a WordPress-compatible XML file for certain content. The design, many page types, commerce features, and platform scripts still need to be rebuilt.

What the export really gives us

A website export is rarely the whole website.

The XML export is a content handoff, not a copy of the finished site. Squarespace notes that not everything exports because many features depend on its JavaScript and CSS.

What we can carry over

  • Pages and one blog page represented in the XML export
  • Text and some image references
  • Products or contacts exported separately as CSV where available
  • Domain and DNS records

What we recreate or reconnect

  • Template styling and responsive layout
  • Portfolio, index, event, album, cover, and some product page structures
  • Forms, newsletters, scheduling, member areas, and checkout behavior
  • SEO details and redirects that are not present in the export

The replacement does not have to be WordPress

We can rebuild an informational site as a custom static site.

For a site whose main job is explaining services and producing calls or form leads, static hosting on Cloudflare Workers can be the cleaner option. Pages are built ahead of time, the important content is delivered in the HTML, and there is no live WordPress database or plugin chain involved in each page request.

A from-scratch build also lets us reorganize pages around search intent and customer decisions. We can improve headings, internal links, mobile calls to action, forms, metadata, structured data, and redirect coverage instead of copying every limitation of the old builder.

Static is not automatically right for stores, member portals, or teams that need frequent dashboard editing. We recommend WordPress when its publishing and plugin tools solve a real requirement. What to do in your current account.

  1. Confirm the site is active and published. Squarespace does not export a trial site.

  2. Open the Squarespace site menu, go to Settings, then Import & Export Content, and choose Export.

  3. Choose WordPress and select the available content. When the export finishes, download the XML file.

  4. Download original images and files separately, especially gallery images, product images, audio, video, and linked PDFs.

  5. Export commerce and mailing-list data from their own panels if you use them. Record products, variants, taxes, shipping rules, discounts, and transactional emails.

  6. Screenshot page layouts, mobile views, forms, announcement bars, popups, scheduling flows, and checkout settings before anything is canceled.

Three things to check twice.

  • Keep the Squarespace site public while media is being copied.
  • PDF links may appear in XML without importing the actual file.
  • Record all existing URLs before changing slugs so we can create redirects.

Does the current website produce leads or sales?

This tells us which forms, phone numbers, tracking, and high-traffic pages must be protected.

For example: contact form to two email addresses, phone calls tracked by Google Ads, Calendly bookings, or Shopify orders.

What must the new site do?

Select everything you currently use or want to add.

Include important page names, current problems, advertising, deadlines, and what you want the rebuilt site to do better.

Questions before a move

Does the $15 per month include migration?

Yes. The hosting plan is $15 per month and the migration fee is $0. We review the current site before work starts so you know the migration plan. If you request new custom functions beyond moving or recreating the existing site, we explain that scope separately before doing it.

Will my website go offline?

The old site stays online while the replacement is built. The final DNS change can create a short period where different visitors reach different servers, so we keep both versions available and avoid canceling the old service early.

Do I have to transfer my domain?

No. Hosting, domain registration, DNS, and email are separate services. Your domain can remain with its current registrar while it points to 330 Hosting.

What happens to my business email?

We inventory the MX, TXT, CNAME, SRV, and other mail-related DNS records before launch. We do not move or cancel email unless that is part of the agreed plan.

Should I send my password in the form?

No. Send the website address and account ownership details only. We will arrange collaborator, delegated, or temporary access through a safer channel after reviewing the request.
