How to Configure Softaculous Email Notifications

Control which installation, update, backup, and clone notifications Softaculous sends.

Control which installation, update, backup, and clone notifications Softaculous sends.

When to Use This

Use this guide when you need to manage Softaculous email notifications and want a clear checklist before making changes. If the task affects a live website, email delivery, DNS, files, or a database, take a backup first and make changes during a quiet traffic period.

Before You Start

  • Log in to cPanel or the related application dashboard
  • Confirm you are working on the correct domain or installation
  • Save current settings before changing them
  • Keep usernames, passwords, and server details private

Where to Find It in cPanel

Open cPanel and go to Software → Softaculous Apps Installer. Depending on the server theme, WordPress may also appear as a shortcut or through WordPress Manager by Softaculous.

Basic Steps

  1. Open Softaculous from cPanel.
  2. Choose the script or open All Installations for an existing app.
  3. Confirm the protocol, domain, directory, database, and admin settings.
  4. Create a backup before updates, clones, staging pushes, or removals.
  5. Test the application after Softaculous finishes the task.

Softaculous Notes

  • An empty In Directory field usually installs at the domain root.
  • Installing to a directory such as blog places the app at yourdomain.com/blog.
  • Backups can include both files and the database, but they still need enough account storage.
  • Staging, cloning, and push-to-live actions can overwrite files or database content.

Common Mistakes

  • Installing WordPress into wp or blog when the site should load at the root domain
  • Pushing a staging database over a live store or membership site without preserving new orders or users
  • Keeping old clones and backups until storage fills up
  • Updating plugins or themes without a rollback point

330 Hosting Recommendation

For simple WordPress installs, Softaculous is usually the fastest path. For migrations, staging pushes, ecommerce sites, or database-sensitive work, ask 330 Hosting to review the plan before you click the final confirmation.
